This is a striking pair of opaque fused glass earrings made from upcycled glass. Are you looking for unusual earrings for yourself or a friend?  If so, you've come to the right place! I have yet to see anyone else making these.

I have a large collection of opaque stain glass lamp glasses that I fuse to make upcycled glass earrings. Most of the original lamp glass is not especially beautiful. But in the fusing process, this opaque glass transforms into a variety of unusual and beautiful colors, and it comes to resemble stone when it is really opaque glass with a matte finish.

I use these glass "stones" to make earrings that hang about 1 1/2 inches from your ear. I made these small dangle earrings from a streaky cobalt blue opaque glass. They are only 3/8 inch wide and 1/4 inch long with rounded corners and are about 1/8 inch thick. I completed them with one tiny red seed bead to set off the beautiful blue and to add a finishing touch.

Each opaque glass earring that I make is from a single sheet and color of glass, not a combination. This is because my glass collection is old, from before when glass companies told us the "cooling co-efficient" of their glass so we would know if two different pieces of glass could be safely fused together.

If you are looking for unusual earrings and love the idea of recycling old lamp glass, then these are for you!  I make them in my studio in Ajo, Arizona in the heart of the Sonoran Desert -- I hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I love the process of making them!  Only in Ajo!
